一 不要将你的心事随便告诉人，却要与智慧的、敬畏上帝的人商量（传 8 ： 12 ）。不要与少年人和陌生人作深交（箴 5 ： 10 ）。不要诌媚富人，也不多在大人物面前来往。要与谦卑和纯洁的人、虔诚和有德的有同群，和他们谈论有益的事。不要与任何一个女人过于亲密，却只要向上帝记念所有的良善的妇女。

二 我们应该有爱一切人的心，但是和一切人发生亲密的关系，却不是适宜的手段。有时，当我们未认识一个人的时候，常因听别人对他的好评而非常尊崇他，但是到了相见之后他就不能使我们的眼睛感到满意。我们有时想由我们的朋友得人欢心，但结果却因人家发现了我们的缺点返被厌恶。

Shunning Over-Familiarity

DO NOT open your heart to every man, but discuss your affairs with one who is wise and who fears God (Ecclesiastes 8:12). Do not keep company with young people and strangers (Proverbs 5:10). Do not fawn upon the rich, and do not be fond of mingling with the great. Associate with the humble and the simple, with the devout and virtuous, and with them speak of edifying things. Be not intimate with any woman, but generally commend all good women to God. Seek only the intimacy of God and of His angels, and avoid the notice of men.

We ought to have charity for all men but familiarity with all is not expedient. Sometimes it happens that a person enjoys a good reputation among those who do not know him, but at the same time is held in slight regard by those who do. Frequently we think we are pleasing others by our presence and we begin rather to displease them by the faults they find in us.
