His Plan

21st Century Mission Method

Mission Introduction

The Great Commission is still relevant to Christians today, but the question is how can they fulfill this calling?

Many nations have shut their doors to Western missionaries. Does that mean churches in the West cannot be involved in missions anymore?

The answer is no. In fact, missions have never been easier than now, if you know how.
However, one of the problems is most churches still see missions in the traditional way, which involves a person moving to a foreign country, learning the language, culture, and traditions; fundraising, connecting with the local people; then preaching the gospel to the
indigenous people for a boundless amount of time.

Many people are reluctant to get involved because the task appears too daunting, and it’s costly and time-consuming.

The 21st Century Mission Method has been established and implemented in the last fourteen years in Brother Abraham’s mission organization for Mozambique, East Timor, and Zambia previously, and now in Indonesia, Madagascar, Ukraine, Venezuela, Sri Lanka, Armenia, and Myanmar. Using this mission method enabled Brother Abraham’s mission organization to reach millions of people for Christ around the world.

This new way of missions is affordable, measurable, and effective. The results confirmed that supporting a missionary does not break one’s bank account.

The 21st Century Mission Method takes seven years for a mission project from conception to completion. At the end of seven years, the mission work will be independently sustained by the indigenous churches.

This mission method is the same that Jesus used for His mission and training His disciples. It is biblically based on but vastly different from the traditional way of missions.

This mission method does not focus on sending missionaries overseas, but partners with indigenous church to financially supporting and empowering the indigenous churches to send out their own indigenous evangelists to preach the gospel to their own people. This approach makes the whole mission process cost-efficient, highly effective, and naturally sustainable.

This mission method is developed through large-scale mission projects to impact a nation; because of its affordability and effectiveness, it can be adopted to run small mission projects by a church or even an individual Christian.

This method especially works well in nations that are difficult or hostile to Christians. It reduces the risk of sending foreign missionaries who are easily targeted by radical anti-Christ movements. This method improves the accountability of the fund allocated to the
indigenous evangelists from the “Mission Supporter” (which can be a mission organization, a church, or an individual) because of the in-built monitoring and management system set up through the partner churches.

The core value of this method lies in the sacrificial succession principle that Jesus used during His mission on earth. This method promotes unity in the churches through evangelical activities, to encourage God’s people to carry the cross, to follow Christ Jesus’s and serve sacrificially.

The table below shows the exponential growth of the mission project in a Buddhist nation where 21st Century Mission Method was applied by Abraham’s mission organization, where the Holy Spirit brought forth the fruit through the sacrificial work of Brother Joshua and his team.

Burmese Indigenous Evangelists 197 people

Staff Number 7 people in two offices

  • Burmese Church Partners 30 churches

  • Burmese Been Evangelized 166,402 people

  • Burmese Accepted Jesus 81,383 people

  • Trained New Indigenous Evangelists 408 people

  • Trained New Pastors 142 people

  • Built New Sustainable Churches 115

  • Financial Support and Time Spent 7 years

The Myanmar mission project commenced in Brother Abraham’s mission organization in 2010, beginning with twelve Myanmar indigenous evangelists initially to preach the gospel to their own people at a cost of $100 per person per month (this means a church with five people willing to put $5 a week, or twelve people putting $2.50 a week for missions, could
also support an indigenous evangelist in Myanmar).

Supporting a missionary is not as expensive as it used to be. The above table also shows at the end of seven years, 197 indigenous evangelists had been trained and hired for mission work; this project was supported by thirty Myanmar church partners from different denominations. As a result, 166,402 Burmese people were evangelized, 81,383 Burmese people accepted Jesus, and 115 new churches were established in Myanmar.

During the seven years, those 197 hired Burmese indigenous evangelists also trained another 408 new indigenous evangelists, and with the help of their Myanmar church partners, 142 pastoral people were trained.

In addition to the above figures, unity amongst indigenous churches from different denomination was established through this mission project. The blessing from the Lord is received by everyone involved.

Although the above table explained how Brother Abraham’s organization impacts a nation using the 21st Century Mission Method in a large scale, the whole mission process can be scaled down to suit or applied by a church or even an individual Christian around the
world for mission work as well.

This mission method ensures a maximize return on investment in terms of harvest, and minimizes the cost of the learning curve in terms of time, energy, and money invested in the mission field.

In this book, the author attempts to take the readers step by step to show them how a mission project begins from start to finish in seven years.

Mission Purpose

The purpose of the mission is to activate the indigenous churches to begin a movement of mission for Christ, to provide a sustainable model and financial support for the indigenous church leaders to undertake evangelism and discipleship to harvest souls for the kingdom in their own nation.

A successful mission project has an exit strategy and a transitional plan from the beginning. These strategies are set up to ensure newly established churches will be sustainable and the mission work has an impacting affect, which would continue even after the Mission
Supporter is pulled out.

To impact a nation (or a people group) deep and wide, two activities must regularly occur within the indigenous church: (1) participation in training indigenous evangelists, (2) using sustainable methods for evangelism and discipleship activities.

Mission Calling and Vision God usually puts a mission’s call on a Mission Supporter’s heart. As Jesus taught His disciples, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own
accord, but only what he sees the Father doing.

For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise” (John 5:19 ESV). Therefore, one must follow Jesus, do what God calls us to do. This is a fundamental principle for missions.

Confirmation of the Call Before beginning a mission project, the mission call must be confirmed and be ascertained by careful prayers in the church via intercession. During this
time of prayer, seek God to open doors to connect with indigenous church partners and their intercessors to confirm the need for mission projects for their nation. This confirmation is fundamental for a mission project to begin.
