Repenting for the Church’s Antisemitism This Monday Night
Canberra Declaration continues to be a strong voice for Israel. On 28 May last year, we joined with over 100 million Christians around the world praying for the Jewish people. This was in addition to prayer for Israel during Go Month. We are convinced God was motivating our prayers in the lead-up to the war which broke out on 7 October.
Starting with the call for 21 days of prayer for Israel in October–November last year, Canberra Declaration as the major catalyst raised over $50,000 for aid in partnership with Celebrate Israel. The generosity of Canberra Declaration never ceases to astonish us!

Truly, we are making an impact not only in Australia but the other side of the globe! Not only that but over one hundred articles supporting Israel have been published on the Daily Declaration over the last six months.
And we can now let you know that Canberra Declaration’s Prayer Co-ordinator Kym Farnik, and his wife Nel, are currently in Israel. By special invitation, they are meeting with Israeli government officials. And thanks to your generosity, their trip was financed through Canberra Declaration!
Kym is providing updates that you may like to follow. In his first update two days ago, Kym speaks about the dramatic shift among Israeli soldiers. Before the war, only about 10% of soldiers would pray (Israel is a very secular nation). But now, 90% of soldiers are praying. See his YouTube channel here.
We are witnessing a situation so familiar in the Scripture: when Israel turns its back against God, trouble comes to them. But these difficulties inevitably result in the nation seeking God once again. And of course, this pattern is true of the Church – and each one of us.
While this is encouraging, the situation in Israel remains critical. Hezbollah has between 10,000 to 20,000 GPS-enabled rockets ready to fire into Israel. If they choose to do so, civilian casualties would be horrific.
The one weapon we have is not in the natural, but the spiritual: prayer. Our wrestle is not against flesh and blood (Eph 6:12).
The fact that Kym and Nel are in Israel, at the invitation of the Israeli government, is in itself a miracle. Please keep them in your prayers!
Just as amazing, orthodox Jewish leaders are calling for Christian missionaries to go to the Arab world in the Middle East. This is astounding – it is an acknowledgement that Jesus is the only solution to the mess. Although these orthodox leaders are not saved – we readily agree with their spiritual insight!

That Israelis are now far more favourable towards Christians is a miracle. Historically, the Church has a long history of antisemitism. This is tragic and has built a barrier against Jewish people to come to a saving faith in Jesus.
We believe that as individual believers in Jesus, and now collectively on Monday night, we must repent of the Church’s antisemitism. We will be asking for God’s forgiveness – and for new channels of blessing to open up in line with Gen 12:3.
Joining us on Monday night’s prayer call is Robin Kinstead. Robin, who is Jewish, is the senior minister at Figtree Anglican Church in Wollongong, NSW.
Robin will share on the night and help lead us in prayer for repentance on behalf of the Australian Church.
Kym Farnik will bring a live greeting and prayers from Israel and Kelvin Crombie from WA will also share his inspiration behind the below video.
The video features repentance for antisemitism in the Church, recorded only nine days ago at Ps Margaret Court’s church in Perth.
